Who she is
Elizabeth Caswell was born in Consett in 1939, the unexpected twin sister of Maureen (her bed was a initially a drawer instead of a cot). A shy child who literally hung on to her mother’s apron strings. Separated into a different class from her twin when she started primary school she developed independence which gave her the confidence she needed to become a nurse, later leaving home to train as a midwife at the world famous Simpson Hospital in Edinburgh then onto pursue her dreams of nursing in the tropics.
Student midwife in Edinburgh.
